A key point that undermines the salary threshold is that the threshold has to be proven between the sponsor and the spouse! So 38,700 is the threshold that our total salaries have to meet. So with the old threshold of 18.7k, we only need to earn 9 and a bit thousand each for the spouse to come into the country. It is farcical and insulting for British natives, as well as hardworking immigrants that the threshold is so low. Realistically I think it should at least be 55-60k for combined income on a spousal visa
