Yes, I think that may be pretty accurate actually - maybe it's not such a tortured metaphor (it is). Needed to not lose Malaga and by doing so won it; that's become the standard FO says as much about the people unable to adapt as it does about him. Strategy must be flexible, it never survives first contact!
