Satire, ridicule, taking the mickey have long featured as part of our culture; from Hogarth's painting via Punch to Mony Python's Life of Brian and Yes Minister. But, when Boris Johnson referred to burqas as letter boxes, the establishment media piled on and not just because they lacked a sense of humour.
